Introduction
Tshipi é Ntle Manganese Mining is seeking an experienced Mobile Equipment Inspector / TMM Inspector to join its Engineering and Maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting Trackless Mobile Machinery (TMM) to ensure equipment is safe, reliable, compliant and fit for operation. The role will play a critical part in identifying defects before failures occur, supporting preventative maintenance and improving overall fleet availability.
Job description

  • Conduct daily, weekly and scheduled inspections of Trackless Mobile Machinery
  • Inspect earthmoving and mining equipment for mechanical, structural, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical defects
  • Inspect engines, drivetrains, braking, steering, suspension and hydraulic systems
  • Inspect tyres, rims, wheel assemblies, chassis, booms, buckets, welds and other structural components
  • Check critical safety systems including brakes, emergency stops, seat belts, lights, reverse alarms, cameras and fire suppression systems
  • Identify and report defects that may affect equipment safety, reliability or availability
  • Raise and follow up work orders for identified defects
  • Verify completed repairs and confirm that equipment is safe before returning it to service
  • Ensure statutory inspections and maintenance requirements are completed within prescribed timeframes
  • Maintain accurate inspection reports, checklists and maintenance records
  • Update relevant CMMS/maintenance management systems
  • Participate in planned shutdowns, audits, legal inspections and root cause investigations
  • Monitor recurring equipment failures and recommend preventative maintenance interventions
  • Participate in risk assessments and ensure compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act and applicable mining regulations
  • Stop or recommend the isolation of equipment where serious safety defects are identified
  • Work closely with artisans, supervisors, planners and other engineering personnel to improve equipment reliability and availability

Minimum requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric.
  • Trade Test as a Diesel Mechanic, Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
  • Valid South African Driver’s Licence.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the maintenance of earthmoving or heavy mobile equipment.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience inspecting Trackless Mobile Machinery in a mining environment.
  • Sound knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, diesel and electrical systems.
  • Working knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act and TMM requirements.
  • Experience with maintenance management systems such as SAP, Pronto, CMMS or similar will be advantageous.
  • TMM inspection or OEM certification will be advantageous.
