Introduction
Tshipi é Ntle Manganese Mining is seeking an experienced Earthmoving Equipment Foreman to oversee the effective repair, maintenance and availability of heavy-duty earthmoving equipment in an open-cast mining environment. The successful candidate will lead and supervise a team of technicians and artisans, coordinate maintenance and breakdown activities, and ensure equipment is maintained to the required safety, quality and performance standards. The role is critical to maximising fleet availability, minimising downtime and supporting continuous mining operations.
Job description

  • Supervise and coordinate a team of artisans, technicians and workshop personnel.
  • Plan and oversee daily maintenance, servicing and repair activities on heavy-duty mining equipment.
  • Coordinate planned and preventative maintenance according to OEM service schedules.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and ensure repairs are prioritised and completed efficiently.
  • Monitor fleet availability, downtime, MTTR, MTBF and repeat failures.
  • Work closely with Production and Mining teams to maintain equipment availability and minimise operational disruption.
  • Ensure service cards, maintenance records, work orders and equipment history are accurately completed and maintained.
  • Conduct equipment and workshop inspections and ensure appropriate tooling and resources are available.
  • Monitor oil consumption, component usage, stores issues and maintenance-related costs.
  • Assist with identifying recurring equipment failures and conduct root cause analysis.
  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with OEM specifications, company policies and engineering standards.
  • Lead daily toolbox talks, risk assessments and pre-work safety declarations.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
  • Manage team attendance, leave, performance, discipline and development.
  • Coach and mentor team members and ensure performance objectives are achieved.
  • Liaise with suppliers, contractors and other relevant stakeholders where required.
  • Contribute to maintenance planning, cost control and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in standby, overtime and emergency breakdown support as required.

Minimum requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent.
  • Qualified Artisan with a recognised Trade Test, preferably:
    • Diesel Mechanic; or
    • Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic.
  • N4 qualification (relevant experience may be considered).
  • Supervisory qualification/certificate advantageous.
  • Minimum 5 years' post-trade experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy-duty machinery.
  • Willingness to work overtime and participate in standby duties.
  • Valid South African Driver’s License.
