Job description

Financial Perspective:
Contributes to cost efficiencies
• Demonstrates budget and cost awareness and proactively
identifies and implements cost saving initiative within the
logistics function.
• Identifies and escalates potential risks that could result in
increased costs.
• Follows loading standard operating procedures and processes to
mitigate risk of financial loss.
Internal Business Process Perspective:
Loading of trains/ trucks
• Proactively plans and executes the loading of manganese ore at
the mine site according to standard operating procedures by:
• Developing real time contingency plans based on unforeseen
changes. Monitoring the supply of capacity by transport
contractors and the movement of ore overland to the Port.
• Informing supporting departments of estimated time of arrival and
actual arrival of en-route trains/ trucks for loading at the mine.
• Comparing wagon lists provided by Transnet with information
obtained on Scada system/weigh in motion and interrogating
variances.
2 Carries out pre-shift inspections of the load out station and reports
faults, losses or damages including:
• Oil leaks.
• Hydraulic pressure.
• Vertical movement of chute.
• Weigh-flask operation.
• Scada and weigh in motion system.

3 Ensures the efficiency of loading operations and the adherence to
relevant SOP’s by:
• Identifying wagons without transporters and overriding the
system.
• Profiling correct chute positions before allowing locomotives to
pass LOS and before starting the loading process.
• Inspecting loaded trains for over/under loading and skew loading
and making recommendation to rectifies loading problems.
• Complete release documents and Informing Transnet once
loading is completed.
• Ensuring that wagons are clean and fit use as per LOS process.
• Continuously analysing logistics processes and identifying
opportunities for improvement.
4 Participates in the establishment, maintenance, Housekeeping and
optimisation of an inventory control system to support the decisionmaking
process.

Minimum requirements

Matric (Grade 12)
Valid Shunter’s qualification (advantageous)
Computer literacy
Driver’s licence
